雷·戴維斯（Ray Davies）是英國搖滾歌手，同時也是作曲家、指揮家，出生于1944年，全名Raymond Douglas Davies。 《金斯樂團代表作的合唱版》就是雷·戴維斯指揮The Crouch End Festival Chorus合唱團灌錄的專輯。收錄的全部是根據當年金斯樂團（The Kinks）的代表作改編的合唱版本。 上個世紀60年代最為輝煌的金斯樂團被譽為Brit Pop的鼻祖，而雷·戴維斯正是金斯樂團的主唱和核心人物。1973年雷·戴維斯遇到了瓶頸，6月份自殺未遂，7月份樂隊解散，年底又出版了評論極差的專輯《Preservation Act I》，它與隨后發行的《Preservation Act II》被評論界認為是胡編濫造、拙劣無比。如今相對于雷·戴維斯的音樂，人們更關注他遭受的槍襲事件。但是在2005年Q音樂獎的頒獎典禮上，雷·戴維斯獲得了“杰出歌曲作者獎”。

Raymond Douglas "Ray" Davies, CBE (born 21 June 1944, Fortis Green, London) is an English rock musician, best known as lead singer and songwriter for The Kinks, which he led with his younger brother, Dave. He has also acted, directed and produced shows for theatre and television.

Since the demise of The Kinks in 1996, Ray Davies has embarked on a solo career as a singer-songwriter.
