Tei Shi – M&Ms. Tei Shi – a new musician out of Brooklyn – has streamed her debut single, ‘M&Ms’, taken from an EP out later this year: ‘Saudade’. The track highlights ethereal vocals laced over a bare down tempo beat. The track mixes ambient pop with alt-R&B. Tei Shi is a brand new project of Valerie Teicher from the depths of Brooklyn, who emerges with M&Ms, a shimmering and glacial piece of indie greatness. Tei Shi describes her music as mermaid music. Given that mermaid’s are fictitious unless you really truly believe everything that happened in that Sabrina the Teenage Witch film, it’s hard to really understand what she means by this – that’s of course until you listen to music. In my mind, mermaids are super beautiful earthy creatures that live underwater bossing all the sealife like some Greek Goddess, her latest single M&Ms is a track that embodies both the beauty and the strength that that kind of mermaid has.
