Composer Michael Wandmacher is one of most diverse talents working in film music today. His resume of over 50 titles includes composing scores for films and television across multiple genres, videogames, songwriting, remixing, producing, and music design. As a stalwart composer in the horror and thriller genres, he provided scores for Patrick Lussier’s My Bloody Valentine 3D, which grossed over $100M worldwide and director Alex Aja’s Piranha 3D. He also created the high-octane action scores for Marvel’s Punisher: War Zone, Drive Angry, and the now-cult-classic actioner Never Back Down. No stranger to comedy, Michael is currently providing score for the ABC hit comedy The Goldbergs, including the rap tunes for the show’s “Big Tasty” character, which have become an internet sensation. Wandmacher’s comedy chops are further featured in Disney’s Max Keeble’s Big Move for director Tim Hill and the FOX comedy Breaking In. In the world of videogames, Michael delivered the pulse-pounding sci-fi/horror score for Activision’s Singularity and cinematic underscore for Sony’s massively successful Twisted Metal re-launch. As an EDM artist, Michael, works under the name Khursor and has provided songs for multiple projects including the soundtrack for a recent installment of the megahit Sims 3, right alongside such artists as Garbage, Lacuna Coil and Ladytron. He also had a premier placement in Sony’s The Sixth Day. Other placements include an end title for Haunting In Connecticut 2, featuring Sarai Givaty on vocals, and song features on Burn Notice and John Doe. Known in the industry as one of the pioneers of the hybrid score and what is now coined “music design”, Michael has the extremely rare ability to combine traditional orchestral ensembles with fresh and inventive use of electronics and organic sonic elements, infusing anything from rock, metal, pop, hip hop, EDM, electronica, and custom sound and music design into one seamless palette for each project. This type of approach was used to great effect in films such as Cry_Wolf, Haunting In Connecticut 2, The Last Exorcism: Part II and the upcoming 13 Sins. Michael is preparing to re-team with director Eric Howell on his first feature, Voice From The Stone, this summer. Their first collaboration, the short Ana’s Playground, was shortlisted for an Academy Award? and features a deeply emotional, dramatic underscore.
