Laced with an infectious energy that will leave you subconsciously head-bopping along, Satellite Stories have crafted an unfamiliar sounding yet comfortably refreshing exploration of musical effects and vocal composition.
After previously making a publishing deal with a major publishing company in 2012, allegedly becoming the second most blogged artist in August the same year, not to mention recording an album with producer Barny Barnicott who has experienced working with the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Editors and The Temper Trap, the band returned to further their impressive impact on the music scene late last year with their first single since the release of their last album.
More recently, the Finnish indie pop band has exceeded expectations with ‘Young Detectives’, a showcase of their explosive individuality as a group and melodical dexterity.
Throughout the track you can hear intriguing experimentation with the vocals (courtesy of Esa Maninken), which somehow resonate satisfyingly with the drum beat at the very beginning of the tune. The silver-lining behind the vocal foreground is the subtle bass riff that we catch glances of during the verses, providing a certain solidity and provocative allure.
With a combined essence of The Kooks and Two Door Cinema Club, along with another band I can’t quite put my finger on, ‘Young Detectives’ is a must-have for any upbeat, indie playlist; jam packed with punchy rhythms and studded with feel-good vibes, there’s not much more to say other than to wholly recommend you give it a listen if it sounds like your cup of tea.
