本張專輯是Alicia Keys受MTV音樂臺之邀，2005年7月在布魯克林音樂學院錄制的不插電現場演出特輯，被MTV視為“新世代版本的現場演唱”。在這場特別演出中，Alicia Keys以拿手的鋼琴演奏，搭配簡單樂器伴奏，以最動人的曼妙聲音演唱多首驚艷歌壇的個人知名代表作，包括：全數都曾進入排行榜Top10位置的“A Woman’s Worth”、“Diary”、“If I Ain’t Got You”、“You Don’t Know My Name”、“Karma”以及成名之作“Falling”。

然而Alicia Keys在這張現場專輯中帶給歌迷的驚喜不僅于此，她還現場演唱了曾經在電臺造成轟動，卻從未收錄在專輯中的“Streets Of New York”，絕對是整場表演高潮之一；Alicia還與自己的同門師弟“Maroon 5”主唱Adam首度合作，對唱了The Rolling Stone樂隊1971年的經典作品“Wild Horses”；邀請街頭饒舌詩人Mos Def、散發Hip Hop、Soul超凡魅力的Common以及雷鬼教父Bob Marley之子Damian Marley共通演出的“Love It Or Leave It Alone”及“Welcome To Jamrock”等佳作；還有邀請靈魂樂傳奇人物Al Green譜寫的新歌“Stolen Moments”和最新作品“Unbreakable”，并且Alicia Keys還翻唱了Motown女歌手Brenda Holloway在60年代的名曲“Every Little Bit Hurts”。傳承自絕代女伶Aretha Franklin動人靈韻，巧妙融合R&B、Jazz、Hip Hop、Funk等多種音樂元素而成的Neo-Soul樂派，Alicia Keys從演唱、演奏、創作各方面都持續創造著屬于自己的傳奇故事，以她精湛的“琴韻心聲”在新世紀流行音樂史中，寫下令人稱羨的扉頁！

Unplugged is the first live album (third overall) by American R&B/soul singer and pianist Alicia Keys. It was recorded as part of the television program MTV Unplugged on July 4, 2005 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, in Brooklyn, New York City, and released on October 11, 2005 in the United States (see 2005 in music). It debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at number one, selling over 245,000 copies worldwide in its first week (196,000 in the U.S.) – the highest debut for an MTV Unplugged album since Nirvana's 1994 MTV Unplugged in New York and the first Unplugged by a female artist to debut at number one. It was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2006, including "Best R&B Album".

The first single released from the album was "Unbreakable", which peaked on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number thirty-four, and number four on the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The second single, "Every Little Bit Hurts", was released in January 2006. The video premiered on January 17 on BET's 106 & Park.

This album has been released with the Copy Control protection system in some regions.
