出身自英倫流行樂團theaudience的主唱，年僅22歲的Sophie Ellis-Bextor(蘇菲)在瞬息萬變的英國流行樂壇已經是具有5年演唱資歷的老將了。16歲起就開始在俱樂部里演唱的Sophie Ellis-Bextor，18歲時和樂手Billy Reeves等 人組成了流行樂團theaudience。2000年以一首英國金榜冠軍曲“Groovejet (If This Ain’t Love)”驚艷歌壇，這首disco house舞曲與Modjo的“Lady”并列2000年兩大舞廳國歌，成功建立起Sophie Ellis-Bextor Disco女伶的形象。她的嗓音被形容是帶有disco風味的Chrissie Hynde，而她復古冷艷的美貌更媲美年輕時的Audrey Hepburn(奧黛麗赫本)。
